2020-2021 Spanish Teacher Application
Cristo Rey Richmond High School is a Catholic learning community that educates young people of limited economic means to become men and women of faith, purpose and service. Through a rigorous college preparatory curriculum, integrated with a relevant work study experience, students graduate ready to succeed in college and in life. Cristo Rey Richmond High School will soon be a part of the largest network of high schools in the country that exclusively serve families of limited economic means.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree (REQUIRED)
- Possession of a valid Virginia teaching license (REQUIRED)
- Two years of urban teaching experience (preferred)
- Bilingual (REQUIRED)
RESPONSIBILITIES (CULTURAL)

RESPONSIBILITIES (INSTRUCTIONAL)
- Establish and maintain a positive classroom environment
- Plan rigorous lessons aligned to the prescribed standards
- Differentiate lesson plans for a variety of learners
- Adhere to a scope and sequence
- Implement feedback from administrators and instructional leaders regarding lesson plan design and/or implementation
- Support instruction with school-wide supplemental programs
- Maintain grade books and meet grade reporting deadlines
- Communicate with families regarding student academics and behavior
- Utilize planning periods for the advancement of student academics
- Tutor students in need of remediation
Content-Specific Requirements
World Languages (Spanish)
- Teaches skills and knowledge in foreign language instruction to secondary students, utilizing core curriculum and other appropriate learning activities approved by the administration or school board. Modern foreign language teachers teach aural comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing. Latin teachers concentrate primarily on the study of syntax, morphology, and vocabulary, with emphasis on reading and translation of classical literature
- Provides learning experiences which develop the basic communication skills, utilizing tape recorders and other electronic equipment as appropriate
- Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
- Instructs pupils in safe operation of electronic equipment used in language instruction.
- Develops pupil understanding and appreciation of culture of countries where the studied language is spoken
- Evaluates each pupil’s progress in aural comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing the foreign language in relationship to the level being taught
