Ms. Mikayla Haefele
Science Instructor

Mikayla Haefele began her teaching career here at Cristo Rey Richmond High School. Her work with the school started during a year of service with the Bon Secours Volunteer Ministry, and she was so compelled by CRR's mission and vision that she decided she wanted to stay so she could continue working with the staff and scholars with whom she had become acquainted during her volunteer year. She now teaches Biology and AP Environmental Science, which she loves because teaching these subjects allows her to explain fascinating science concepts and encourage students to get outdoors to explore and observe our shared natural environment. Mikayla grew up in northern California, but she traveled east to complete a B.A. in Environmental Studies at Middlebury College in Vermont, and then she made her way down to Virginia to enjoy a warmer, less snowy climate! In her free time, Mikayla enjoys hiking, taking walks with her friends in the neighborhood, serving at church, bird watching, and baking. |
